Arrigo Sacchi gave an ’interview to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ in which he talked about the national team, which is on the hunt for a coach after Luciano Spalletti’s exoneration. “It seems to me that, at this moment, Italy is being treated badly – he began – and I am very sorry about that. Before the game against Norway, I read about a player who said no to Spalletti’s call-up and then argued with the now former technical commissioner”.

“Now there is a serious person like Ranieri who, all of a sudden, after arrangements had already been made for the signing, backs out – added the’former coach -. And so the national team is left without a coach and in complete chaos. May I say that Italy deserves different behavior ”.

Then he recoiled at Ranieri: “I do not know the deep motivations, but I believe that the National Team cannot be said no. It is a moral duty to answer the call, at least I see it that way. The National Team is the team of all Italians and therefore, for a coach, it should represent the highest goal. What could be higher and nobler than to be able to be at the head of a project that involves the whole country? ”.

“I read names of many coaches, from Cannavaro to De Rossi and Gattuso. I do not feel I can pass judgment on their qualities. They have had their experiences, they have been great champions, they definitely have the blue color stuck to their skin, and they excited the public when they won the World Cup in 2006. But being the technical commissioner of Italy is a very complicated job indeed, I’m telling you this from someone who has been on that bench. You have to select, coach, handle pressure, be a psychologist… Not easy… But what a joy to be able to sit on that bench” concluded Sacchi.
