National bench: blue trio in pole but eye on foreigner

Gabriele Gravina, FIGC president, is being called upon to make a decidedly complex choice. After dismissing Luciano Spalletti, he seemed to have found the’right man to be entrusted with the bench of the national team. Instead, Claudio Ranieri declined the offer, opening a thousand scenarios.
At the moment, in pole position would be Gennaro Gattuso. The 2006 World Champion would be assisted in this delicate mission by the Buffon-Bonucci duo. The three have known each other forever and know what it means to wear the national team’s jersey. In short, a blue trio to bring Italy back to the World Cup and, above all, the’enthusiasm around this National team.
Attention also to the name of Roberto Mancini. After regretting leaving the Azzurri bench to coach Saudi Arabia, the Mancio would be delighted to have a second chance. Whether or not Gabriele Gravina is willing to forget the recent past remains to be seen.
Neither should the foreign track be ruled out. Although the “Italian” solution seems the most logical, the’hypothesis of relying on a foreign coach would not be so crazy. There is no shortage of names. From the suggestion José Mourinho to Rafa Benitez… In short, there would be an embarrassment of choice. It is up to Gabriele Gravina to make the final decision. Getting it wrong is no longer an’option, given the situation in which the national team finds itself.
