Roger Federer kicked off the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the legendary race whose 93rd edition began at 4 p.m. at the Sarthe circuit, with the Ferrari 499Ps seeking a historic hat trick after victories in 2023 and 2024.
Starting on pole position were Cadillac’s two prototypes, while Maranello’s three hypercars started from seventh, 11th and 13th positions. Also in the race is Valentino Rossi, with a Bmw in the Lmgt3 class.
In total, 62 cars are entered in the race that will end tomorrow: 21 prototypes in the hypercar category, 17 cars in the lower LMP2 category and 24 in the LMGT3.
In addition to Ferraris, which dominated the first three races of the World Endurance Championship (Wec), and Cadillacs, Toyota cars are also aiming for victory, with outsiders Porsche, Bmw and Alpine.
