Club World Cup: Botafogo wins on opener, draw for Porto

After the many goals scored by Bayern Munich and PSG, two more matches valid for the Club World Cup, a tournament being held in the United States (the final is scheduled for next July 13), were played overnight.

In PSG’s group match, Botafogo’s prompt response as they took on the Seattle Sounders 2-1. The defending Libertadores champions ran away 2-0 up (goals by Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus). Roldan put the U.S. team back in the game at 75′ but the result never changed again. Of note was the entrance on the field, in the second half, of dell’ex-Nerazzurri Correa wearing the jersey of Botafogo, his new team. Not an unforgettable test for the Argentine striker.

The’other challenge, valid for Group A (the same as Inter Miami and Al-Ahly), between Palmeiras and Porto ended, instead, with untouched goals. Many chances on both sides with the two goalkeepers, Claudio Ramos (Porto) and Wewerton (Palmeiras) absolutely decisive. Despite the 0-0 final, the match was full of emotions and goal balls.

Today two more matches are scheduled for the Club World Cup. It starts, at 21:00 Italian time, with the match between Chelsea and Los Angeles FC. At 12 p.m., however, the intriguing confrontation between River Plate and Benfica.
