Lucia Bronzetti immediately out in Nottingham
Luccia Bronzetti’s adventure at the WTA 250 in Nottingham came to an immediate halt. On the English grass of the ‘Lexus Nottingham Open’, in fact, the Romagna-born, world number 59, was decisively overcome (0-6 4-6) by the Croatian Antonia Ruzic, number 98 in the WTA ranking and coming from the qualifiers.
A nightmarish start for l’Azzurra who immediately found herself down 0-3. Bronzetti tried to break free in the fourth game but lost her serve again (0-4) then closed the partial set without even scraping together a game (0-6).
The Italian player was not able to break the lead.
In the second set the Rimini player tries to fight back, snatching the serve from her opponent in the third game and confirming the break (3-1). However, the joy is short-lived: Bronzetti suffers the immediate comeback of Ruzic (4-3), who then signs the decisive break in the tenth game (6-4).
The momentum continues in the second set, as she is able to break her opponent in the third game.
The negative moment continues for the Romagna tennis player, who cashes in her third consecutive defeat in the first round after the defeats at the debut in Rabat and Roland Garros.
