Milan Cortina 2026, first six players of Italy ice hockey unveiled

The Italian Ice Sports Federation has announced the first six players included in the preliminary list for the men’s ice hockey tournament at the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The announcement was made in collaboration with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the National Hockey League (NHL), the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA), and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The players nominated are: Damian Clara (NHL rights by Anaheim Ducks), Diego Kostner (HC Ambrì-Piotta), Thomas Larkin (Schwenninger Wild Wings), Daniel Mantenuto (HC Bolzano), Tommy Purdeller (HC Val Pusteria) and Luca Zanatta (HC Val Pusteria).
“We are looking forward to the Olympics, for most of us it really is a dream come true. The guys we have chosen are obviously very good players, but also great teammates,” explains the head coach of the Italian national team, Jukka Jalonen.
Milan Cortina 2026 represents a significant moment in the history of ice hockey. For the first time in 12 years, NHL players will participate in the Winter Olympic Games, raising the anticipation among athletes, fans, media and organizers.
