Club World Cup 2025: Fluminense-Borussia Dortmund, the likely lineups

With the match between Fluminense and Borussia Dortmund, scheduled for 6 p.m. Italian time on Tuesday, June 17, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Group F, the one in which the Brazilian and German clubs are favored over the other two participants, the South African Mamelodi Sundowns and the Korean Ulsan HD.

The ‘Flu’ 100-year-old club from Rio de Janeiro, qualified for the competition by winning the 2023 edition of the Copa Libertadores. Coached by Renato Gaucho, he favors an offensive scheme to enhance the qualities of Everaldo, Arias and Serna, the latter scoring in the last matches played before the World Cup, against Once Caldas in the Copa Sudamericana and against Internacional in the league. Former Milan and PSG defender Thiago Silva will also be on the field.

On the other side there&#8217s a Borussia Dortmund side that ended the season on a high, with a brilliant league comeback that took the Yellow and Gold from the less noble half of the standings to Champions League qualification. BVB, led by Niko Kovac on the bench, is at the World Cup thanks to the UEFA ranking (6th place among eligible teams) and relies on Guirassy’s effectiveness in attack, Adeyemi&#8217s accelerations and Julian Brandt&#8217s concreteness in the assist zone.
