Cristian Chivu is not looking for alibis and is pumped up for his debut with Inter

Cristian Chivu, ready for his debut in the Club World Cup, spoke in a press conference, “The team has been working well, it has been two days that we have gathered almost full. Of course there’s some problems, some aches and pains. But all in all, nothing particular or serious. For the rest, the newcomers have done a good job.”
It won’t just be Chivu’s debut: “Luis Henrique is a bit behind in condition because he had a few more weeks of vacation. Petar (Sucic, ed) is back from the national team directly here, he has some more training with us. And for sure you will see them, we will have a chance to see them at work or from the’beginning in a game in progress.”
The former Parma coach did not reveal how he will play: “In Italy I think we are too tied to what the systems and modules are. What matters are the principles of play that are more important than any system of play. Obviously, in recent years Inter have benefited from this system of play and this way of occupying the field, however, with the most important thing being to have principles that then allowed them to obtain important results as well,” added the new Inter coach.
“Principles must never be lost, you need a lot of fluidity, a lot of mobility, a lot of asymmetry, because in today’s soccer you must never give points of reference, always try to create problems for the opponent’s defensive organization, whether it comes to pick us up by man that or has a more passive behavior of defending the goal. However, the principles this team has always had. We will try to add a little something more, it is obvious that it is not easy. Before a match preparation obvious that there’s a need for time, however, a little something will probably be seen as early as tomorrow”.
“You have to not think about the past also because we cannot change it, you have to think that this is the final of the 2024/2025 season, which is a competition that you have to honor for a team like Inter. You have to come here to be the best version of what this group and this team is. We should not think and look for excuses and alibis regarding physical condition, just as we should not look for any regarding mental condition. We are ready and we have tried to work in these days to create a team with a mental and physical serenity that allows us to have good performances,” Chivu concluded.
