Inter, backstory on Inzaghi prompts discussion: "Yes to Arabs long before Champions" final;
Simone Inzaghi had said yes to’Al Hilal’s offer long before the Champions League final between Inter and PSG. Revealing the backstory was the Arab club’s CEO Esteva Calzada in an interview with the BBC: “Everything had been decided long ago”.
“The contract had not yet been signed before the final only because Inzaghi, out of respect, asked us to wait. It might seem like something out of the blue, but it is the result of hard work. Inzaghi was about to play a very important game and asked us to put everything aside until after the final”.
“This season we finished second, below expectations. From Simone we expect him to help us win again and regain the championship”, the executive continued.
Inzaghi will make his debut on the bench on Wednesday in the World Club Championship match against Real Madrid.
