Salernitana-Sampdoria, postponement of playout return match official

The return match of the Serie B playout between Salernitana and Sampdoria will no longer be played on Friday, June 20, but on Sunday, June 22, at 8:30 p.m. That’s what was officially arranged on Tuesday by the B League, which took up the granata club’s petition in the aftermath of food poisoning involving several members of the Team Group after the first leg match against Samp, thus allowing players and staff to enjoy an additional 48 hours for physical recovery.
“The President of the National Professional League B – reads the official communiqué -, having taken note of the application received from the company U.S. Salernitana 1919 S.r.l. on June 16, 2025; having taken note of the medical and health documentation produced by the hospital facilities concerned and attached to the aforementioned application, as well as the complaint sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Genoa and likewise attached; having heard the LNPB component within the Federal Medical-Scientific Commission; having heard the FIGC and taking into account the CC.UU. 307 of May 27, 2025 and 321 of June 12, 2025; taking into account Article 27.2 of the LNPB Statute; in partial amendment of the LNPB C.U. The first leg of the playout match between Sampdoria and Salernitana, played at Marassi last June 15, ended 2-0 for the Dorians, due to the effects of goals scored by Meulensteen at 39′ and Curto at’86’. The match ended in ten against ten for the direct red to Borini at 92′ and for the second yellow to Stojanovic at 96′: both will not be able to be on the field at the Arechi.
The Serie B playout was initially supposed to feature Frosinone and Salernitana, with Sampdoria relegated directly to C. Brescia’s penalty, however, revolutionized the standings after the end of the regular season, thus leading Frosinone to salvation and Samp to be able to play for permanence in B against Salernitana.
