Fiorentina closes for Fazzini: coming from Empoli for about 10 million

Florence is moving decisively in the market and placing a shot in the arm: Jacopo Fazzini will soon be a new purple player. The 2003-born midfielder, fresh off a positive season with Empoli, will land at Rocco Commisso’s court for a fee of around 10 million euros, including bonuses. The agreement with the Tuscan club is now in the final details, while the player is currently engaged with Italy in the Under-21 European Championship.
Fazzini, despite the bitter relegation with Empoli, has attracted the attention of several clubs thanks to a growing championship, culminating with four goals and an assist in the decisive stages of the season. A modern midfielder with dynamism, good technique and great tactical intelligence, he represents the ideal profile to reinforce a midfield in search of new blood. Stefano Pioli, back on the Fiorentina bench but not yet officially the new coach until at least July 2, will thus have a young talent to work on and grow into his system of play.
The decision to invest in Fazzini comes after the waivers of the redemptions of Adli, Cataldi and Colpani, and with Gudmundsson’s future still uncertain. Fiorentina, therefore, is focusing on a technical project that enhances the value of young Italians, continuing along a line already traced with other recent signings. Fazzini will be the second official reinforcement of the purple summer, after the arrival of Edin Dzeko, who will bring experience and leadership to the locker room.
