Thomas Ceccon doesn’t show up for the race: blame traffic

On Saturday Thomas Ceccon was expected to compete in the 50 freestyle at the Cool Swim Meeting in Merano but was unable to show up because of an accident. The champion was stuck in traffic on the A22 and had to forfeit.
There were plenty of people waiting for him in Merano: it was supposed to be his first race in Italy after his long internship in Australia, which began in January and ended in April. However, the fans in Merano can console themselves: they will have other opportunities to admire Ceccon.

The champion in fact also entered the 100 and 200 freestyle, the 50 and 100 butterfly, the 100 backstroke and even the 50 breaststroke. There’s great anticipation to see the Thiene outfielder.
