Atp Halle: Bolelli and Vavassori surrender in final against Krawietz/Puetz

Dreams of repeating their 2024 triumph were dashed at the most beautiful moment for Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. The Italian pair was defeated in the final of the ATP 500 in Halle by hosts Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz with a score of 6-3, 7-6(4), in an hour and 37 minutes of an intense and well-played battle on both sides. A match decided by a few details, which saw the coolness and effectiveness prevail in the key moments of the German pair, eager to avenge the defeat suffered precisely against the Italians twelve months ago.
In the first set, Krawietz and Puetz started with greater incisiveness, managing to break the Italians on serve in the sixth game. Bolelli and Vavassori tried to fight back in the ninth game, but the Germans, thanks mainly to Puetz’s mental solidity in delicate moments, defended the lead, closing the partial 6-3.
The second set proved to be even more closely fought. Both pairs held serve with authority, resulting in spectacular and intense exchanges. The Azzurri had an important chance in the 10th game, with a set point in their favor. But once again Puetz proved decisive, bravely saving himself with a risky but effective second. In the tiebreak, the balance lasted until 4-3, when Krawietz netted a perfect point that set the tone for the decisive mini-break. This carried the Germans to victory.
For Bolelli and Vavassori this was their second loss in the finals in 2025. In Australia, the bitter disappointment at the Australian Open, but their path remains solid and successful nonetheless. With three titles already won this season and a great understanding on court, the Azzurri remain one of the most feared pairs on the circuit.
Now awaits them the Majorca tournament, where they will be the first favorites on the scoreboard. Then, head and heart will be all turned to Wimbledon
