Wimbledon, Casper Ruud’s forfeit puts a smile on Matteo Berrettini’s face

Casper Ruud will not participate in the upcoming Wimbledon, which kicks off Monday, June 30. The Norwegian, back from a knee problem that affected him’s untimely exit at Roland Garros, announced his forfeit for the London Slam.
To smile is Matteo Berrettini. The Roman tennis player, in fact, thanks to Ruud’s forfeit, is certain to be among the top 32 seed at the Championships, while the spot vacated in the scoreboard by the Scandinavian will be taken by young Dane Elmer Moller.
The Azzurro, however, is not yet certain to play at Wimbledon: in fact, Berrettini’s last match dates back to the Internazionali d’Italia precisely against Ruud when he was forced to withdraw. From there the Roman has missed Roland Garros, the Stuttgart ATP 250 and the Queen’s ATP 500.
Hoping that Berrettini will be at Wimbledon, with him will be three other top seeds among the Azzurri: in addition to the Roman, there will also be Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti and Flavio Cobolli.
