The Mugello weekend will go down in history not only for what happened on the track, but also for the whistles dedicated by a part of the public to the winner, Marc Marquez, and to the head-on clash between the same component of the fans and Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi, who on several occasions called on the protesters to turn the page and support the number 93 as a Ducatista.

The weekend was a great success for the Ducati team.

Marquez himself, speaking about what happened, spent words of thanks for Tardozzi himself: “We can’t control the booing, but I so appreciate Davide Tardozzi’s gesture – said the Catalan centaur, who has been riding Ducati since 2024 and as of this season is in the factory team, to ‘TNT Sports’ -He’s not defending me, he’s defending the Ducati riders”.

“He has defended me like he defends Pecco, or like he has defended in the past Bastianini or Jack Miller when they were here– added Marquez, who riding the Desmosedici GP-25 dominated the first part of the season, bringing after the GP d’Italia his own lead in the standings to 40 points over his brother Alex and 90 over Bagnaia -. He’s really a very good team manager and supports all the riders who are part of the team”.

Marquez said, however, that he is aware of the motivations that lead some of the Italian fans to boo him, going down pretty hard: “It’s nice and it&#8217s right to praise local idols, but it doesn&#8217t make sense to boo me or Alex just because we are called Marquez, nor to boo Spanish riders for the flag they carry: those who do that are not true MotoGp fans“.
