Cristian Chivu tries to turn the page at'Inter after Champions League final

Cristian Chivu returned to speak at a press conference ahead of the last match of the World Club Championship round, against River Plate: “We are expecting a difficult match as the other two have been. There are teams that have different ambitions, they want to make a good impression and make the game difficult for you. Then we are talking about teams with a better physical condition than the European teams that are at the end of the season, so it is not easy, but in soccer nothing is ever easy. You have to find mental and physical energy to face such a game in such a competition”.
“I am happy with all the young people as well as with the whole team who made themselves available to the group. It should not be forgotten that this is an official tournament, it is a world championship, these are not friendly summer preparation matches. Let”s not forget the context: the guys came and made themselves available by doing their best”.
There is still a lot of talk about the Champions League final: “Guys, it has been a month since Munich however every day I read the same things about that result, they say we have to overcome it, but if we say the same things every day it is difficult to do so. I think the guys listened to my advice and stopped reading. We leveraged a very important thing in soccer and also in life: to find humanity, some kindness and thoughtfulness to quickly forget what life gives you because it often gives you moments that are not good. But when you have men next to you who look into your eyes without looking elsewhere for questions, everything is easier”.
Chivu did not reveal anything from the tactical point of view, dribbling a question about the form: “What we can control is what we do today and what we will try to do tomorrow. Qualification is not yet certified so I cannot think about what will be a possible access to the next stages. We have to think about what to do tomorrow, which is the most important thing. Figuring out whether River will mirror, whether they will continue to play as they have done so far matters to us up to a point because we have to look at ourselves, at what we have to do, to be ready to understand the moments of the game and how to direct them”.
