Juventus: an old name and a new one for Igor Tudor’s defense

Juventus soccer market: an old name and a new name to try to improve the Old Lady’s backroom. Partly by virtue of the sonor defeat against Manchester City at the FIFA Club World Cup, the’intention is to intervene massively in the department, focusing on a major recovery but also on the’signing of an old acquaintance of Igor Tudor.

We are talking about Leonardo Balerdi, who, according to the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’ would represent an’explicit request from Tudor to the Juventus management. He is a 1996 Argentine central, whom the Croatian coach has already had the opportunity to coach at Olympique Marseille during the 2022-2023 season. That year, the defender was deployed 35 times in Ligue 1 and also netted one goal in his six Champions League appearances.

It is Balerdi who represents the coach&#8217s first choice, but Juventus may not stop there. Net of Tudor’s preferences, in fact, there is no shortage of options for the defense, and reinforcements will certainly come. Not least because, after a start to the season marked by the very few goals conceded, even last year the department showed its fragility on several occasions.

In this sense, the “old name” that is returning to the center of attention at Juventus appears to be of great importance. It is that of Bremer, who has been absent for months due to the rupture of cruciate ligaments and who certainly was no small factor in the Bianconeri’s difficulties last season. Now, however, the Brazilian is ready to return, and he just might represent the new centerpiece of Tudor’s rearguard. Perhaps with Balerdi at his side.
