Monaco has made official the signing of Paul Pogba, the former Juventus man who signed a two-year contract to revive his career after three seasons of substantial stop due to an 18-month disqualification for doping and various injuries.

His last game, played with Juventus, was in late summer 2023, although his last real season on the pitch was in 2021-2022, when he was at Manchester United, but the English club did not renew his contract due to repeated injuries.

Turned then to Juve, the 2018 world champion was suspended for four years for doping positivity in a test conducted after a game against Udinese on Aug. 20, 2023. The penalty was later reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Tas), considering that the’intake of the substance “was not intentional”.

Since last March, when his disqualification ended, Pogba was allowed to play but in the meantime had been left without a team after his contract with Juventus was terminated in November 2024.

Now he will have a chance to get back on his feet, but the road will not be downhill, because in addition to the series of injuries in recent years he has experienced on his own skin the extortion and kidnapping case of which he was a victim and for which his brother Mathias and five of his childhood friends were sentenced to prison terms of up to eight years.
