For Fabio Di Giannantonio, that of Sunday in Assen is an all in all a positive sixth place, although after finishing fourth in the Sprint race staged on Saturday, expectations were a bit higher for the MotoGp rider riding the Ducati Desmosedici GP-25 of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.

“With the team we worked very well during the weekend and I was very fast on the pace – explained the 1998-class rider -. I expected great confidence to push, but the feeling with the rear was strange today. It was a defensive race, so sixth position is good. In the second half, I lost time lapping together with Franco (Morbidelli, ed) and Maverick (Viñales, ed), I think I had more potential and honestly fifth position was within reach”.

“What we lack now is just the lap in qualifying, because we have the speed in every condition. Once we fix the time attack, we can fight for something very big” added Di Giannantonio, who has finished on the podium three times this season, taking third in the Gp of the Americas, the Sprint Race in Britain and the Gp d’Italia at Mugello.

On the Dutch circuit, victory went to Marc Marquez on a Ducati, who was just over six tenths ahead of Marco Bezzecchi on an Aprilia and two and a half seconds ahead of Pecco Bagnaia, the Catalan’s teammate in the factory team of the Borgo Panigale-based Rossa. Di Giannantonio finished in sixth position behind Pedro Acosta and Maverick Viñales, both on KTM.
