When Mattia Bellucci plays at Wimbledon against Oliver Crawford: the schedule

After regaining on grass the polish he seemed to have lost in the latter part of the clay court season, Mattia Bellucci will try to make as much progress as possible at the Wimbledon tournament, which sees the 24-year-old from Castellanzese’s name placed in Section 7 of the lower part of the draw, the one with Holger Rune seeded with the highest seeding number, 8.
In the first round of the London Slam, Bellucci will face one of the home favorites, Britain’s Oliver Crawford, on Monday, June 30. The 1999-born tennis player actually grew up in the United States (to British parents from Birmingham), but since 2024 he has decided to take the court representing the Union Jack, the flag of the United Kingdom. At Wimbledon, Crawford can compete thanks to a wild card granted to him by the organizers.
The one between Bellucci and Crawford is an entirely new confrontation: in fact, there is no precedent to record between the Italian and the Briton, who will therefore face each other on London’s grass for the first time ever. The two will take the court at 11 a.m. local time, 12 p.m. in Italy, barring any unforeseen weather-related issues, which in any case does not foresee any precipitation for Monday.
Mattia Bellucci, who on Monday will rise from 74th to 73rd in the ATP rankings, has won three of the four matches played so far on the grass, all at Eastbourne: in the qualifiers he beat Marek Gengel and Tseng Chun Hsin, while in the first round he defeated Quentin Halys, before bowing out in the next round to Billy Harris. Crawford, who will move up to No. 248 in the rankings on Monday, instead began his season on grass on June 1, with a record of four wins and two losses between Birmingham, Ilkley and Mallorca.
