Ducati, Marc Marquez goes down flat: jab at critics

After winning his sixth victory of the season in Assen (fifteenth if you consider the nine victories in the Sprints), Marc Marquez has returned to the controversy of recent days, related not only to the booing reserved for him by a part of the fans present at Mugello the previous weekend, but also to the criticism of an alleged “submissive” attitude on the part of his brother Alex when the two were fighting for victory in Saturday’s Sprint.
“First and foremost, I wish my brother a speedy recovery– began Marc Marquez, speaking to ‘TNT Sports’ referring to the injury suffered by Alex after Sunday’s accident with Pedro Acosta -. He measures words much more than I do, but I want to point out the lack of respect from some, according to which Alex would not attack me on the track as he does with other riders”.
“Why not say the same thing about Bezzecchi? It might seem to the same people that he didn–t try,” added Marquez. “Actually he tried very hard, but from the couch at home it is easy to talk. I had to defend myself with Alex on Saturday and in the race I did it with Marco, the same way. I would like the fans to respect all MotoGp riders: there are no riders who do not want to win, the problem is that only one can do it”.
The controversy comes just a few days after the Mugello whistles: in that case to give Marc Marquez a helping hand was Davide Tardozzi, team manager of Ducati’s factory team, who had explicitly silenced, trackside, the protestors: “These are situations that I have never accepted – the words of Tardozzi -, even when Marc was not with us, because to hear someone who has won booed has always seemed bad to me”.
