Archived thanks to a clear 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-18 the partials) the Week 2 of the Volleyball Nations League, the Italvolley already has its eyes turned to the next commitments, with the knowledge that it can fully fight for a place in the Final Eight. Italian coach Ferdinando De Giorgi, in this sense, expressed his feelings on the sidelines of the success against the Americans.

“We closed well this pool in Chicago – he said -They are all very challenging rounds: we had several important games with a group that has had a few days to train and start playing together. We certainly need more work in the gym but games like these are crucial for us. Playing them so continuously allows us to find the right adjustments after each match and I must say that the VNL allows just that”.

“Now we have to think about getting the qualification to the Finals as soon as possible and then play our cards – added De Giorgi.”

We have some rest ahead of us after 25 consecutive days between the two stages. We will then have about a week of training in which we will try to better sharpen some aspects and still improve the team” feeling.

In the third and decisive week of the VNL group stage, Italy will be busy in Ljubljana, Slovenia: on July 16, the Azzurri will take the court against Serbia, on July 17 against Ukraine, on July 19 against hosts Slovenia and on July 20 against the Netherlands. After eight matches played, Italy is in third place with 6 wins and 2 losses, for 17 points overall.
