Wimbledon, Jasmine Paolini makes up for Sevastova: she is in the second round

Jasmine Paolini advances not without difficulty to the second round at Wimbledon. The world No. 5 and No. 4 in the seeding overcame Anastasija Sevastova, No. 402 in the WTA rankings, in a comeback with a final score of 2-6 6-3 6-2 after nearly two hours of play.

An uphill start for the Azure who surrendered the serve to the Latvian already in the third game (1-2). Sevastova confirmed the lead (3-1) and repeated the break advantage in the seventh game (5-2) before closing on her serve in the first set (6-2).

The first set was a tough one.

In the second set, after an initial exchange of breaks, came Paolini’s reaction, who in the final stage of the set broke Sevastova in the eighth game before evening the set count on serve (6-3).

In the third and decisive set, with the’inertia now in her favor, the Tuscan flies to 3-0 in an instant. The Latvian recovered a break disadvantage (1-3) but lost it again (1-4). At that point it is a formality for Paolini to close out the match.

Thanks to this victory Paolini advances to the second round of the Championships where she will face Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, number 80 in the world rankings.
