Elizabetta Cocciaretto’s feat in her debut match at Wimbledon, the second Slam of the season staged on the grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (record prize money: £53.5 million).

The WTA ranking number 116 in fact eliminated the number 3, the American Jessica Pegula, the eve’obligatory favorite for this match but also among the candidates for the final triumph.

On the court there was no match: this was evidenced by the final score of 6-2 6-3 in just 58 minutes of play, which cost the fresh title winner in Bad Homburg last Sunday the elimination.

Cocciaretto thus became the first Italian to beat a top-3 player since Flavia Pennnetta (against Simona Halep) and Roberta Vinci (against Serena Williams) in the famous 2015 Us Open semifinals.
