Jasmin Repesa fears double commitment between league and Champions League

Jasmin Repesa took stock of the recently concluded season with his Trapani Shark in the Giornale di Sicilia: “We really did a phenomenal job last season”.

“In the last two days of the regular season, we had a chance to take first place ahead of the playoffs. We beat Milan at home and needed a win against Virtus in Bologna. And that win we pretty much had it in the bag, but Cordinier scored with just moments left. We started the playoffs against Reggio Emilia and passed the round 3-0, but then, before the semifinals, the 4-point penalty completely destabilized us”.

“We want to keep the level high, although it is true that it will be much more difficult. We will also play in the Champions League. The problem will be the travel from Trapani. My request is that for every away game we have a charter flight available. In fact, I have bad experiences from the days when I coached Unicaja in the Euroleague. It happened that we would play on Friday, arrive in Malaga on Saturday night and then on Sunday at noon have a league game. In that period we lost five games”.

“The’logistical organization will be crucial to deal with two competitions. Team construction will also have to take this into account. We will make a selection focusing on young players who can handle such a demanding pace”.
