It is not an easy period that Lucia Bronzetti is experiencing in the 2025 season: the final she reached in Cluj Napoca in February (ko against Anastasia Potapova in three sets) now seems to be a distant memory, as in the following tournaments only in Indian Wells she won at least two matches and in the last four tournaments played (Rabat, Roland Garros, Nottingham and Eastbourne) she has always exited in the first round.

The current number 63 on the WTA rankings will play the first round of the Wimbledon tournament against a tricky opponent, Jill Teichmann, who occupies the number 93 ranking position. The two athletes will take the court on Tuesday, July 1, no earlier than 2 p.m. Italian time (1 p.m. local time). The Helvetic has had a good season so far, even winning one tournament, the Mumbai Challenger last February in which she beat Mananchaya Sawangkaew of Thailand in the final.

There is only one previous match between Bronzetti and Teichmann, dating back to the first round of the tournament in Ningbo, China, in 2023: played on cement, the match ended with the Italian player winning 7-6(6), 6-4 and was the beginning of a good path for Bronzetti, which ended in the quarterfinals against Czech tennis player Linda Fruhvirtova.

The Italian player also won the tournament in the first round of the tournament in Ningbo, China, in 2023.

A 1998-born Rimini native, Lucia Bronzetti has also been in the Top 50 of the WTA circuit, rising to the number 46 position in’April 2024. On the major circuit she won one tournament, in Rabat in May 2023, as well as won one tournament on the WTA 125 circuit, taking the final victory in Contrexeville in July 2024. With the national team, she won the Billie Jean King Cup 2024.
