Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz in the third round

World No. 2 Spaniard and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz qualified for the third round of the men’s singles at Wimbledon by beating Britain’s coming from the qualifiers Oliver Tarvet, No. 733, with a score of 6-1 6-4 6-4.

The Murcian saves three break points in the first game of the match but then dominates the first set going 3-0 and then 6-1 while saving two more break points, among others consecutive, on 3-1 and three more on 5-1, when he closes the partial at the third set point.

Tarvet finally makes a break in the second game of the second set going 2-0 but it will be his only exploit: he then gets caught up at 2-2 and then, at 4-4, comes the break that sends Alcaraz up two sets.

The Briton saves two break points in the first game of the third set, then from the fifth to the seventh game there are three consecutive breaks, two are in favor of Alcaraz and the one on 3-3 is decisive.

Carlos closes the file on the first match point after two hours and 17 minutes of play and in the third round will face the winner between Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime and German Jan-Lennard Struff.
