All’inside the NBA world it is the period of trades and new contracts. Overnight, as reported by ESPN, the Los Angeles Lakers finally found the center they have been looking for for some time. The yellowviola have secured Deandre Ayton.

The long Bahamian, a free-agent after leaving the Portland Trailblazers (he still had one year left on his guaranteed contract), struck a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers on the basis of a two-year, $16 million total deal. Interestingly, Deandre Ayton was third overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the same year Luka Doncic was called with the number 1.

Deandre Ayton, in recent seasons, has not performed as expected, in fact he has disappointed a lot. Now he will have a chance to redeem himself alongside the magical duo James-Doncic. Undoubtedly, should he return as dominant as he was at the beginning of his NBA career, he would be a big blow for the yellowviola. His physicality could make a difference at rebounding, a fundamental in which the Lakers, in the last season, struggled greatly.

Last year, in Portland, he played only 40 games (worst season of his seven spent in the NBA). In Los Angeles they expect to see again the player who, in his first year in Phoenix, was named to the’All-Rookie Team. Class of 1998, Deandre Ayton is ready to take advantage of a new, very important chance in Los Angeles.
