Bashing wild card Jack Pinnington Jones (number 281 ATP, executioner of Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the first round) three sets to zero, Flavio Cobolli earned qualification to the third round of the Wimbledon tournament, confirming the good impressions already given in the tournament&#8217s opening round against Kazakhstan&#8217s Beibit Zhukayev.

6-1, 7-6(6), 6-2 was the score in favor of the Roman tennis player, in a match that lasted just under two hours and was very reminiscent, in its performance, of the previous round. Cobolli, in fact, got off to a strong start by winning the first set, suffering the reaction of his opponent in the next fraction but managing to win the set at the tie-break.

The third set was an easy one.

Everything was easy in the third and final set, in which Cobolli immediately won a game on Pinnington Jones’ serve and never looked back. The Briton tried a desperate reaction in the final, cancelling a first match point, but on the next ball to win the match he could do nothing but raise the white flag, giving way to the Blue.

The British player was able to win the match.

By reaching the third round, Flavio Cobolli has already achieved his best result at Wimbledon, equaling among others his best result at Grand Slam level. In the other three tournaments (Australian Open, Roland Garros, and US Open) he has in fact reached the third round as well: now it will take a further effort to do even better, with the prospect in addition of climbing further up the ATP ranking.
