Juventus, it’s done: Jonathan David has signed until 2030

Juventus soccer market: Jonathan David is officially a Bianconeri player. After a courtship that lasted several weeks, the Canadian former Lille who liked among others also by Napoli has superceded medical examinations and thus signed the contract that will bind him to the Old Lady until 2030, after leaving Ligue 1 as a free agent.

The announcement was made by the Bianconeri club itself in a note issued on Friday evening: “The purchase of Jonathan David by Juventus is official: the 2000-born striker has signed a 5-year contract with the Bianconeri, until June 30, 2030″ reads the official website of the Piedmontese club.

“Born in Brooklyn to Haitian parents and later moved to Canada, to Ottawa – Juventus recalls -, David grew up footballingly with Ottawa Gloucester and Ottawa Internationals before flying to Europe at the age of 17 to wear the Gent jersey: with the Belgian team he made his debut – scoring immediately on his debut – in August 2018, ending his first two seasons as a professional with a haul of 37 goals and 15 winning passes in 83 appearances and winning the title of top scorer in the Belgian league in the 2019/2020” year.

“Then, in the summer of 2020’Juventus continues in its statement on the signing of Jonathan David– comes the move to Lille, with whom he played in the last five seasons scoring 87 goals in 178 league appearances and a total of 109 goals and 30 assists in 232 games with the French club. Club with which he won Ligue 1 in 2020/2021 and the French Super Cup the following season”.

“With the Canadian national team he made his debut in September 2018, scoring two goals on his debut and collecting 66 appearances and 35 goals so far, having also worn the jersey of the national youth selection”,

concluded Juventus, then wished Jonathan David well by giving him a date on the pitch.
