Ferrari, Charles Leclerc has many doubts about the car and the future

The Silverstone Grand Prix turned out to be a nightmare for Charles Leclerc, who finished the race in fourteenth position, out of the points zone and with a number of questions still open about the real potential of his single-seater. A weekend that began with good feelings during free practice, but which slowly, even in qualifying, turned into a weekend to forget, the accomplice of a wrong strategy and, above all, an absolutely insufficient race pace.
The Monegasque had already tried to take risks at the end of the formation lap, choosing to mount medium dry tires when the track was still very wet, especially in the third sector. A gamble that did not pay off: “I thought that with the sun the track would dry quickly, but it did not. It was the wrong choice,” Leclerc admitted at the end of the race.
The main problem, however, according to the Ferrari driver, is much deeper. “The thing that really worries me is the pace. It was not there at all. Even after the stop I could not keep up with the pace of the others,” explained Charles, visibly disappointed. “I’ve been using a very extreme set-up for a few races now, I thought it could be an advantage in the wet, but today I had my answer.”
The dull performance at Silverstone highlighted obvious difficulties in managing the car and competitiveness on a wet track. Leclerc recounted that he had to struggle to maintain control: “Even lapping within a second of the times, it felt like he was risking an accident at every corner. It was a very hard race.”
