Jesse Marsch puts only Erling Haaland ahead of Jonathan David

Jesse Marsch, coach of Canada, gave an exclusive interview to la Gazzetta dello Sport in which he talked about Jonathan David, Juventus’ new signing. “I am not surprised because Juventus is a top club – he began – and then David’s entourage, when we were still involved in the Gold Cup in recent days, had told me about the possibility. In recent months many European bigs have asked me about him. I am happy that Jonathan has chosen Juventus”.
“Because Jonathan had three priorities: the Champions League, a club with a winning history and the chance to play – added the U.S. coach. At Juventus he will find everything. And I, who have a soft spot for Italy and a home near Viareggio, will have one more reason to come to your country. I will certainly be at the stadium for Pisa-Juventus, but I will also go to Turin”.
“David is a top – he went on to emphasize -. His main quality is intelligence: he knows soccer and above all he understands the moments of the game, which is also why he scores so much. To technique he combines an innate timing: he scores goals in all ways. Watch him well in the box: he never loses his bearings, he is calm and cool. And consequently ruthless”.
“Jonathan has everything to repeat the 25 goals even at Juventus. There are great strikers in Serie A, but surely David will fight for the bomber”.
He then made a comparison with Haaland: “Erling is strength and power, Jonathan intelligence and technique. But both are goal monsters. As characteristics, David is more like Nkunku than Haaland or Sesko. As absolute value, though, there is David after Haaland. And then Sesko”.
“David is a 9, but also a 9-and-a-half, a 10 or an outside forward. With us, in Canada, he plays as a second forward or as a 10 with a center forward next to him. And he scores equally many goals. When I coached Leeds, I would have liked David with me in the Premier. But now, coaching him in the national team, I have realized that he is stronger than I imagined” concluded Marsch.
