When does Lorenzo Sonego play at Wimbledon: his record with Ben Shelton

After a marathon win over Brandon Nakashima, Lorenzo Sonego is preparing to return to the court at Wimbledon in the round of 16 match at the Championships. The Piedmontese, number 47 in the world, will face Bel Shelton, number 10 in the seeding and ATP rankings.
The match between l’Azzurro and the American is set as the second match on the court 1 program on Monday, July 7. It will be Ekaterina Alexandrova and Belida Bencic who will open the dances at 2 p.m. Italian time (1 p.m. local time) before Shelton-Sonego.
There are four previous meetings between the two players and they smile at the American, who holds a 3-1 advantage: the most recent one was played in the first round of the last edition of Roland Garros with Shelton winning in five sets, taking revenge on the Turin-based player who also beat him in the first round in Paris in 2023.
The U.S.’s other two wins came in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2025, in four sets, and in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 2022, in three sets.
