When Flavio Cobolli plays at Wimbledon: background with Marin Cilic
Flavio Cobolli wants to continue to impress at Wimbledon. After his third-round victory with Jakub Mensik, the Roman tennis player, number 22 in the seeding and 24 in the ATP rankings, faces Marin Cilic, world number 83 and a finalist at the Championships in 2017, in the match valid for the round of 16.
The match between the Blue and the Croatian will open the schedule on court 2 on Monday, July 7. The two players will take the court at 12 p.m. Italian time (11 a.m. local time), then it will be Liudmila Samsonova’s turn, opposing Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.
There are two previous matches between Cobolli and Cilic and both have been won by the Roman: the Blue defeated the Croatian in three sets in the first round at Roland Garros 2025 and, also in the first round, in two sets, at the 2023 ATP 250 in Umag.
By reaching the round of 16, Cobolli has already beaten his best result at Wimbledon and in general at a Grand Slam tournament, but the Roman has no intention of stopping.
