Jannik Sinner in his usual end-of-match interview almost apologized for qualifying for the Wimbledon quarterfinals, the result of Dimitrov’s withdrawal forced to raise the white flag after winning the first two sets.

“I don&#8220t know what to say, Grigor is an incredible player and he proved it today. He&#8217s been very unlucky in the last two years. He is a good friend, we know each other well. I wish him to recover as quickly as possible. I don&#8217t feel like a winner at all”.

“It&#8217s a very sad moment for all of us who have seen him. Injuries like these are terrible. We know how much he cares about the sport; he is one of the hardest training tennis players. This is not the ending we would have hoped for. Let’s give Grigor a round of applause,” the world number 1 concluded.

Sinner in the quarterfinals will face Ben Shelton, executioner Monday afternoon of Lorenzo Sonego who after winning the first set had to surrender in four.
