Alex Marquez and the Sachsenring rebus: Gresini Racing takes stock

Reduced from the unluckiest race of the season, that of Assen, where he suffered a fracture in his left hand following an accident with Pedro Acosta, Alex Marquez could make a comeback as early as Sachsenring, although there is still a hurdle to overcome: Gresini Racing, however, has let it be known that the Catalan will fly to Germany, to undergo the decisive medical test to return to racing.
The Italian team, to communicate the news, chose to do so by quoting a U2 album recorded in Germany itself, 1991’s Achtung Baby: “Achtung Baby: we’re back! Two is better than one. Alex will finally travel to Germany on Thursday to undergo a medical checkup, with the goal of being declared fit” the note reads.
Gresini Racing is therefore confident in Alex Marquez’s state of health to show up with two Desmosedici GP-24s at the German Grand Prix, that of Marc’s younger brother and that of Fermin Aldeguer, who in turn did not finish the Assen race, ending a nightmarish weekend for the association founded by the late Fausto Gresini.
The one scheduled at the Sachsenring is the’eleventh round of the 2025 MotoGP season, with the MotoGp class that as always will experience, in addition to the Sunday race, the Saturday Sprint. Leading the overall standings is Marc Marquez (Ducati factory) with 307 points, ahead of Alex Marquez, on 239, and Pecco Bagnaia, teammate of the number 93, who has collected 181 points so far.
