Having found the’coach for next season, Alberto Gilardino, Pisa is reasoning about the reinforcements to put at the disposal of the Biella coach in view of the return to Serie A 34 years after the last participation. Among the names on the Nerazzurri management&#8217s notebook is also a prominent one, Giovanni Simeone, a two-time champion of Italy with the Napoli jersey.

In addition to the player&#8217s value, the club would also bet on the link between the club&#8217s colors and the Simeone family, as dad Diego, now coach of Atletico Madrid, was part of the Pisa squad for two years, in A in 1990-91 and in B the following season. Confirming the’interest in the son of ‘Cholo’ was Giuseppe Corrado, at the microphones of ‘Kiss Kiss Napoli’.

“The ‘Cholito’ could be part of our plans – explained the Pisa president. “Having Simeone would be a midsummer night’s dream. Father played in Pisa and still comes here often. I have not yet called De Laurentiis, my son and the sporting director have talked about it with Manna: Simeone is a player we are interested in, however, we know we have tough competition. The real mission is to maintain our parameters”.

Still talking about possible new arrivals from Napoli, Corrado ruled out negotiations to get to another of last year’s Italian champions, Pasquale Mazzocchi: “As for the outfield, we are amply covered, we have Angori and Estevez, plus other players who can occupy the sides” commented the number one of the Nerazzurri management.
