Valentin Carboni is ready to write a new chapter in his young career: the talented Argentine born in 2005 is preparing to move to Genoa on a dry loan from Inter Milan. After an unlucky year at Marseille, which ended early due to a ruptured cruciate ligament, the Argentine fantasist remains in Serie A with the aim of relaunching himself and finding continuity under the guidance of Patrick Vieira.

The deal, which is now down to the details, does not provide for either right or obligation of redemption: Inter intends to maintain control over the player, who recently renewed his contract until 2029. Genoa, on the other hand, will be able to count on his qualities without any initial outlay. On the contrary, as part of the agreement, the Nerazzurri will pay economic bonuses linked to the number of appearances Carboni will collect in the rossoblù jersey. A formula designed to incentivize the use of the player and encourage his growth in a competitive but more “human” context than the high pressure of Inter.

Reduced from a positive experience at the Club World Cup, where he found his first official goal in an Inter shirt, decisive against Urawa Red Diamonds, Carboni has shown encouraging signs of recovery after injury. In the Argentine’s three matches played in the United States, in his Club World Cup debut with Sergio Ramos’ Monterrey he did not take the field, he showed personality and quality, earning the trust of the staff and the attention of several clubs.

For Genoa, this is an important blow: Vieira was looking for a technical and creative profile to insert between the lines, and Carboni represents the ideal fit in terms of game vision, flair and room for growth. The Ligurian club hopes he can follow in the footsteps of other youngsters enhanced in recent years, while Inter is watching closely, certain of its jewel’s potential.

Valentin’s older brother Franco Carboni is also close to changing jersey: Empoli is in advanced negotiations to bring him to Tuscany
