Jannik Sinner is expected to play in the quarterfinals of the prestigious Wimbledon tournament on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. The world number one will face American Ben Shelton, the number 10 seed, in a match that promises sparks.

The world number one will play for the second time in the tournament on Court Number 1 and will start sweating after the match between Iga Swiatek and Ludmilla Samsonova, which will start at 2 p.m. Italian time. So, Sinner could take the court around 4 p.m., depending on the length of the women’s match.

The Italian reached the quarters thanks to an unusual victory in the round of 16 against Grigor Dimitrov, who was forced to retire due to injury while ahead by two sets. A round passage that leaves some questions, especially after Sinner’s fall that required medical attention to his right elbow.

The two have met six times, with the balance clearly in favor of the Italian: 5 wins to 1 for Sinner. The U.S.’s only success dates back to 2023, during the Shanghai Masters 1000. Since then, Sinner has always prevailed, including the previous one at Wimbledon in 2024, which he won in three sets, and the semifinal at the Australian Open 2025, where the Italian won with authority.
