Cagliari has a new bomber: official Gennaro Borrelli

Cagliari soccer market: Gennaro Borrelli is the new bomber of the islanders’ Rossoblù. This was announced by the Sardinian club itself, in a note in which it formalized the arrival of the powerful striker who in the last two seasons played in Serie B with the Brescia shirt after having already briefly tasted Serie A at Frosinone.
“Cagliari Calcio – reads the statement – is pleased to announce that it has acquired the right to the sporting services of Gennaro Borrelli: the player has signed a contract that binds him to the red and blue colors until June 30, 2029 with an option to extend in favor of the club for a further season”.
So Cagliari reviewed Borrelli“s career: “Born in Campobasso, class of 2000, he grew up in Pescara: after the trafila in the Youth Sector, top scorer with 18 goals in the Primavera 2 (B round) in the 2018/19 season, he landed in the first team making his debut in the Coppa Italia on Aug. 11, 2019 in the victory against Mantova. On Nov. 2, he scored his first goal in the cadet league in the 3-0 home win against Pisa”.
“After 23 appearances with the Abruzzi shirt – writes Cagliari again -, in October 2020 he went on loan to Cosenza and, in the second part of the season, in Serie C to Juve Stabia (19 games and 4 goals). Also in C at Monopoli, season 2021/22, he is a protagonist with 9 scored in 21 matches, performances that push the team to the quarterfinals of the promotion playoffs”.
“In the’summer of 2022 – continues the note – he thus returns to B among the ranks of Frosinone. In Ciociaria he contributed with 23 appearances and 6 goals to the historic cadet championship victory that earned promotion to Serie A, where the striker made his debut on August 19, 2023 against Napoli. His football maturation continued at Brescia, where he made his debut a few weeks later, on Sept. 3, in the 1-0 home win against Cosenza. The next match – his first as a starter – he immediately went in goal, decisive in the away win (0-2) against Lecco. On March 2, 2024, he scored his first double with the ‘Rondinelle’ in the 4-2 win against Palermo. He leaves Brescia after two seasons in which he totaled 64 matches, with 16 goals and 4 assists”.
“A center forward with an imposing physique, 194 centimeters tall, particularly adept at headers and with the ability to do the job on his own. Goals, but also fight and sacrifice: Borrelli is a striker who puts his physical strength at the service of the team. Tactically intelligent, in spite of his size he is also good at dribbling. Equipped with a good basic technique, he can easily break free to go to the conclusion or create the conditions for the’insertion of his teammates”, concludes Cagliari.
