Ciro Immobile returns to Serie A: it’s official

Ciro Immobile is returning to Serie A. Through an official statement, Bologna announced the outright purchase of the forward from Campania, who signed a one-year contract with the Rossoblù club with an option to renew for one more season.
Born in 1990, among the best strikers of his generation, Ciro reaches Bologna following in the footsteps of the great champions who, from Baggio and Signori onward, have decided to live a second and triumphant youth in rossoblù, such as Gilardino, Di Vaio and more recently Palacio. 201 goals in Serie A from 2008 to the present, no one like him, overall he is the eighth all-time leading scorer in our top league, of which four times he became the top scorer, also setting the record (36) of goals scored in a single season, 2019-20. Two years earlier he was also the top scorer in the Europa League.
Right-footed center forward capable of ranging across the entire attacking front, raised in the youth sectors of Sorrento first and Juventus later, he emerged in his past seasons at Pescara and Torino. Of Lazio he then became an icon and the best scorer ever, 207 goals in 340 games, an absolutely uncommon average that earned him a Scarpa d’Oro in his trophy cabinet, the award given to the player who, during the European season, obtained the best score calculated by multiplying the number of goals scored in the league by the difficulty coefficient of the league itself.
At the collective level, as a team, Immobile counts a Serie B championship (2011/12 season) with Pescara, a German Super Cup (in 2014) with Borussia Dortmund, an Italian Cup (2018/19) and two Italian Super Cups (in 2017 and 2019) with Lazio and a Turkish Super Cup (in 2024) with Beşiktaş, at the end of a 19-goal year in 41 games. With 17 goals in 57 Azzurri appearances, he is also ranked 16th in the relevant historical ranking of national team scorers.
