Motorcycle touring, Italy unbeatable: Azzurri world champions in Lillehammer

For the sixth time in the last seven editions, Italy has won the FIM Rally, the world motorcycling event. The success came in Lillehammer, Norway, and follows those of 2017 in Sweden, 2018 in Lithuania, 2019 in Denmark, 2022 in Germany, and 2023 in Spain. In 2020-2021 the event was not held because of the pandemic, while in 2024 Italy was the host country and, by regulation, was not in contention for the title.
Italian success comes 75 years after the first FIM Rally victory, in Holland in 1950. Italy’s Azzurri took first place ahead of Sweden and Finland, which completed the podium. The Azzurri team also won the Belgium Challenge, reserved for the Federation represented by the highest number of motorcycle clubs, the FIVA Challenge, thanks to the highest number of motorcycles over 20 years old, and the Hungary Challenge, awarded to the Federation that won the most points with drivers in all categories with one or more registered passengers.
“An incredible victory, really special – commented Giovanni Copioli, president of Federmoto – because it confirms how much Mototurismo in Italy is felt and practiced. This year it was not easy to win given the distances to be covered, but our Moto Clubs and members put all their passion” on the road once again.
“I really thank them because these results help to give visibility to motorcycling, certainly, but above all to give evidence to motorcycle tourism from an institutional point of view. They also show how our motorcyclists have a thirst for discovery and culture, two fundamental values of the two-wheeled world. This victory adds to the five previous victories and the organizational success of last year in Chianciano Terme” concluded Copioli.
