Marc Marquez also won the Sprint Race that precedes the German MotoGP Grand Prix by a day, preceding on the rain-flooded Sachsenring circuit a great Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Quartararo. Badly Pecco Bagnaia, only 12th after a day never as a protagonist. Apprehension for Franco Morbidelli, who fell disastrously in the early stages of the race.

Marquez’s victory on a track that has seen him win as many as eight times in a row in MotoGP (eleven in MotoGP, considering also Class 125 and Moto2) comes on the very last lap, despite a bad start by the Catalan. The Ducati centaur, who got off to a bad start from pole position and ended up wide on the outside of the track made impassable by rain, is forced to make a mighty comeback that is accomplished in the very last few corners to the detriment of his Aprilia colleague who had led the’entire Sprint Race.

After Maverick Viñales’ qualifying crash, with consequent dislocation and fracture to his left shoulder, the Sprint Race also experiences a moment of great concern. The reason is Franco Morbidelli’s disastrous tumble in Turn 8 on lap 3, with the Team VR46 rider (second at the time) caught on camera breathing heavily after rolling several times in the gravel. With Sprint Race still in progress, he was admitted by ambulance to the Sachsenring medical center.
