Iga Swiatek is the new queen of Wimbledon at the end of a one-sided final. The former world number one, who as of Monday will be back in third place in the WTA rankings, demolished Amanda Anisimova, number 12 in the rankings and 13 in the seeding, with a resounding 6-0 6-0 after not even an hour of play.

The Pole got off to a strong start by immediately snatching the serve from the U.S. in the opening game and confirming the break lead on serve (2-0). Anisimova has four chances to break the break in the third game but gives up the serve again with a double fault: Swiatek thanks and closes the set with an eloquent 6-0, winning the last twelve points of the partial.

The music does not change.

The music did not change in the second set with the break in the opening of the next world number three, which was repeated in the third game (3-0). Anisimova took Swiatek to the advantages on serve for the first time in the match but the game still went to the Pole (4-0) who strung two more in a row before sealing the match with a backhand forehand.

Swiatek thus wins her first title at the Championships, her sixth Grand Slam title (4 Roland Garros and 1 Us Open), with a success that goes down in history: at Wimbledon, in fact, the ’last act did not end with a double ‘bagel’ (6-0 6-0) since 1911.
