E’ controversy has again erupted on social media against the commentary of Elena Pero, whom many Italian fans and enthusiasts label as “anti Jannik Sinner” and “Alcarazian”. A similar controversy had erupted in the past for Eurosport journalist Barbara Rossi. Elena Pero talks with Paolo Bertolucci about the Wimbledon final between Sinner and Alcaraz, and discussion broke out on social media.

The’former Italian tennis player Adriano Panatta has defended the Sky journalist and his former colleague and friend Paolo Bertolucci: “Calling Bertolucci and Elena Pero anti-Sinner commentators is a’hypothesis out of the air and the controversy that has ensued is absurd”.

“As if it were remotely imaginable that an Italian tennis commentator could cheer for the’opponent of an Italian”, are the words reported by Corriere dello Sport.

Then Panatta somewhat ironically poked fun at his friend Bertolucci, who on X had been clear on the matter: “It&#8217s also true that this happens because you have to know that Bertolucci is a slave to social media, he responds to everyone and launches into predictions, so, in essence, it…s all his fault”.
