Tour de France: Jonathan Milan comes close to an encore but is mocked

No double for Jonathan Milan at the Tour de France: the Italian cyclist, winner of Saturday’s stage at the Grande Boucle, was beaten in a sprint in the finale of the ninth stage of the top French stage race. Milan was bent in the sprint by European champion Tim Merlier.
In the sprint to Châteauroux, the Belgian of Soudal-QuickStep took his second victory in this edition of the Tour de France, the third in total in his career.
The stage was marked by the surprise action of Van der Poel, who displaced everyone and was caught with only 10 kilometers to go. In the final sprint, Merlier got the better of Milan (who started first) in the last 50 meters, with the Blue, in green jersey, having to settle for second. Third place for Arnaud De Lie.
In the general classification always Tadej Pogacar in the yellow jersey.
