Claudio Ranieri: "In the national team I would not have freedom"

Roma senior advisor Claudio Ranieri in an interview with TG3 spoke about his no to the Italian national team: “I think saying no to the national team cost everyone, however, I could not do two jobs”.

“Having a contract with Roma, despite myself, I could not accept what the Federation wanted. The national team needs a free person to be able to choose, to be able to call up whoever they want. With me there would have been too many problems with each summons, for example, if a player played 90 minutes and then faced Roma”.

“On the bench there must be a free man, and I would not have been one. Gattuso has always tried to do things well. He is someone who the national team has known it, he&#8217s fought it, he&#8217s suffered it. So I wish him all the best”.

On the relationship with Gian Piero Gasperini: “My choice? Well I am the Friedkin adviser and hopefully I will do my job well. Gasperini has an important task. Slowly things will turn out well”.
