Jannik Sinner, Darren Cahill reveal backstory after triumph

Darren Cahill, speaking at the microphones of Gazzetta dello Sport spoke about Jannik Sinner’s triumph at Wimbledon. “I think happy doesn’t give an idea of how I feel after these three years – he began -When we started I thought he had a good game for grass: the way he moved, the way he served”.
“And once he started feeling comfortable on this surface, things changed quickly – added the Australian coach -: that first year he pushed Novak to the limit in the quarterfinals, going ahead a couple of sets. He kept improving all the time, and I think the results show exactly that. Happy I don’t think is enough to tell what Jannik has been able to achieve in the last two years. And the credit is his, what he has done”.
.
Then he revealed a backstory: after the first set won by Carlos Alcaraz in a manner similar to the way Jannik won it in the Roland Garros final, Vagnozzi was confident, while Cahill a bit’ less so: “I, however, did not see it the same way”.
“Jannik is a good guy, he always has a smile on his face, the person you see on the field focused and paying attention to details, he is not the same person we see off the field: he is a fun loving guy who jokes all the time and loves the company of those around him. He cooks, he messes up, he makes a lot of mistakes that we always laugh about. He has fun like any normal 23-year-old”.
“But on the court he has a special mentality, and that is why he and Carlos are doing what they are doing. I think their rivalry is already incredible and it can only get better as these two will continue to push each other. And that there are other young players knocking on the door-I don’t think it will be a show just for two,” Cahill concluded.
