Atalanta, rally without Ivan Juric: club reassures on coach’s condition

At Zingonia, the curtain opens on Atalanta’s 2025-2026 season, but without the new coach Ivan Juric: the Croatian coach, who picked up the baton from Gian Piero Gasperini (who has since moved to Roma), was unable to attend the team’s first day of work due to a health problem that forced him to be hospitalized.
As confirmed by the Nerazzurri club in a note, “coach Ivan Juric in recent days underwent hospitalization at the Bolognini Hospital in Seriate in the Otolaryngology Department headed by Doctor Davide Panciera, following a major inflammation of the upper airways, complicated with a bacterial infection of the epiglottis treated with intravenous antibiotic therapy”.
“The current clinical picture is improving markedly and a protected discharge is expected as early as in the next few days” the note reads further, with words aimed at reassuring fans and insiders about the physical condition of the Croatian coach, who on the Dea bench will aim to redeem a 2024-2025 year to forget, with the experiences at Roma and Southampton that began in the current season and ended with an exoneration.
Atalanta is intent on starting a new cycle with Juric on the bench, following the successful one that saw Gasperini at the helm of the Orobici from 2016 to 2025, winning the historic Europa League in 2023-2024 as well as seven top-five finishes in Serie A and three Coppa Italia finals, played and lost in 2019, 2021 and 2024.
