Although he is back from a phenomenal career, culminating in a 2024 full of successes and marked by victories in the Enduro1 and EnduroGp World Championships, as well as one in the International 6DAYS of Enduro, Josep Garcia is certainly not one who wants to settle. Interviewed exclusively by Sportal.it at Airoh’s headquarters in Almenno San Salvatore (Bergamo, Italy), the 1996-born champion spoke not only about his victories, but also about the great rivalry, across the sports world, between Italy and Spain.

Garcia, in particular, comes from Catalonia, a region rich in champions: “It is true, there are many of us in the world of motorcycles at the highest level: I won in Enduro but there is also Toni Bou in Trial, in addition to the many riders who are protagonists in MotoGp. Maybe in MX there is someone missing but there are good riders, who represent a nice place where you can train well. Why didn’t I choose MotoGp like the brothers Marc and Alex Marquez? I started in motocross, I also raced a little bit on the road but it’s in enduro that I was able to get the most out of”.

Garcia&#8217s first world title was in 2017, in the Enduro2 class: “The stimuli are always there, I won my first World Championship when I was 20 years old and there&#8217s no better motivation than trying to try to get the same feelings again. I always say if you won once you want to do it the second time, the third time and so on. I have fun with the bike, riding it is what I enjoy most in the world”.

Also in Enduro it&#8217s often Italy-Spain, as is happening in other sports and, in particular, in tennis. Garcia, regarding this issue, has clear ideas: “Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz? I would love to take them on the bike with me, it’s nice to have a rivalry like that between athletes. As for me I often fight with Andrea Verona, we always fight to the best of our ability: on the track there&#8217s battle, but after the race we respect each other. This is also the beauty of sport”.
